SEO Work

Following is some Search Engine Optimization work done for small businesses using SEO tools; Moz Pro, Semrush, Google Analytics, Google Console, Google Keyword Tool, Google Insights, Screaming Frog  and Answer the Public

Website SEO - Full Review

Challenge: Websites for 2 different clients had not been reviewed for some time and an initial SEO audit identified a number of issues.

​

As mentioned previously

Actions: Conducted keyword research and reported on opportunities, SEO audits, reviewed competitors and took action to compete in search for rankings,  fixed errors, implemented improvements including user experience enhancements and reported on recommendations for future including link building opportunities to move the website up on the search engine rankings.

​

​Results: User experience elements were improved on both sites with SEO site health scores increased along with organic traffic ( 25% average increase ).

Website 1 -  An audit of this relatively small website of 114 pages revealed over 150 errors and a number of issues -  all errors and issues were researched, solutions determined and fixed.

Organic traffic in the 1st 5 months* following the SEO project organic traffic increased by 24%. Organic traffic makes up around 50% of the overall traffic to the website. Recent site health score is at 90% up from 76%. Some website functions plus design and content issues were addressed at the same time as the SEO issues.

Note: Time frames adjusted to 5 months to exclude a major external event that would normally increase traffic.

 

Website 2 - being in an international niche of many  fragmented players, organic traffic only makes up a quarter of the traffic with most traffic coming from direct search. Nevertheless, an audit revealed nearly 170 errors and many issues that needed to be looked into, site health was at 77%.

All errors were researched and fixed where possible with an ongoing maintenance program and recent site health score of 87%.  Organic traffic increased 26% year on year.

 

A functional website and blog upgrade was completed while addressing the major SEO issues on the Squarespace site

SEO & Website - there was a lot more below the surface 

Challenge: The website had not been updated in years and this moving business was not sure where to start

 

Actions:

  • Initially a new website was not part of the plan but an SEO audit revealed a number of hidden issues; broken links, content that was not optimized, meta data missing, a number of design and functional flaws and a non secure website - the most efficient way to fix this was by starting over.

  • Designed and built a new website solving all the issues above plus a major upgrade on functionality and design with calculators and order forms. Handing over the website to the owner so they could now manage this website themselves.

 

Result: Website traffic was up by 31% the 3 months after the new website reversing a serious downward trend. Enquires were up too.

SEO - Not getting the return on great content

Low Hanging Fruit

 

This company had spent a lot of time and resources on this blog and we discovered that the settings in the blog software were set to - Hide Content from Search Engines - it was easy to miss and very easy to fix.

Challenge: The business was very actively writing great content on their blog but not getting any traction in google search with this effort.

 

Actions:

  • Reviewed blog and blog software; found and fixed a huge number of broken links; 

  • Discovered that meta descriptions were not keyword rich and that the settings in software were not optimized for search engines.

  • Provided guidelines to blog writers and set the blog software up to improve optimization going forward.

 

Result: Traffic to blog increased (actual measurement not available) increasing overall website traffic significantly.
